WASHINGTON – The Society of Professional Journalists has recognized Arkansas Tech University and the University of Central Florida with its Campus Program of the Year award. They were chosen from a select group of campus chapters for their outstanding work in supporting the Society’s mission, members and journalism.

ATU held a week of journalism events, funded with assistance from an SPJ chapter grant. The events included an obstacle course that students could enter by answering a media literacy question correctly.

UCF held “Intern Pursuit,” a collaboration with the campus’ other journalism organizations. They invited 26 companies to take part which led to 12 companies interviewing intern candidates. More than 70% of the internships for students at UCF’s journalism program were from “Intern Pursuit.”

The chapters were honored during Student Summit and Awards Program at MediaFest22, SPJ’s annual convention.
