Ginny Frizzi

Bio (click to expand) Ginny Frizzi has been a member of SPJ since she was an undergraduate at Point Park College (now University) in Pittsburgh. She was a charter member of the Point Park chapter.

Frizzi holds a B.A. and M.A. in journalism from Point Park. She also did graduate work in non-fiction writing and public and international affairs at the University of Pittsburgh.

She is treasurer of the Pittsburgh Professional Chapter of SPJ and served as finance chair for the 2008 Region 4 conference hosted by the chapter in March. She was SPJ’s Region 4 Director from 1994-2000 and twice received the Regional Director of the Year Award.

Frizzi was a founder of the Press Club of Western Pennsylvania and currently serves as a board member. She is a member of the Club’s journalism scholarship committee and has chaired the club’s annual Golden Quill Awards competition for more years than she can remember.

She is a board member of the Women’s Press Club of Pittsburgh and a former president of the club and the Pittsburgh chapter of Women In Communications, Inc., (WICI), now American Women in Communications.

Frizzi is also a freelance writer.

Pulliam/ Kilgore Freedom of Information Internships

The Society of Professional Journalists annually awards two Pulliam/Kilgore Freedom of Information Internships. One intern works in the offices of the Society's First Amendment legal counsel in Washington, D.C. The other intern works at the Society's National Headquarters in Indianapolis. Applications must be postmarked by this Thursday, January 14, so do not delay!

The Working Press

Each year, the Society of Professional Journalists sponsors internships for 12 bright, motivated and hardworking SPJ student journalists to staff The Working Press, a daily tabloid newspaper that covers the SPJ National Convention. Student writers, photographers and designers are invited to apply for these select positions.


Eugene C. Pulliam Fellowship

The Eugene C. Pulliam Fellowship was established to enable a mid-career editorial writer at a U.S. newspaper to have time away from daily responsibilities for study and research.


Fellows of the Society

This highest honor the Society bestows upon a journalist is awarded for extraordinary contribution to the profession. Nominations are open to members of the journalism profession.
