To Live or Let Die

In 1987, Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Chris Foley made a controversial decision to remove a severely disabled newborn from the care of his parents so that he could receive possibly lifesaving surgery. Nearly 20 years later, Crocker Stephenson of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel describes what has happened since then to the boy, Tim Krahling, who is now on the cusp of manhood. "In a Child's Best Interests" also introduces us to the woman who ended up adopting Tim and the prosecutors who argued in favor of overruling Tim's birth parents and ordering the surgery. Stephenson cuts through the political and moral issues swirling around the case to show how lives can intersect in odd and surprising ways. Thank you Brian Summers for the tip. www.jsonline.com/index/index.aspx?id=99
