Stuck in Lodi Again

Nicole Hill of The Oakland Tribune does a wonderful job describing a community where few reporters venture. Her "A Shrinking World" explores the tight-knit, often isolated world of Muslim women living in the California city of Lodi. Hill shows us how these women struggle in their arranged marriages, keep close ties with their relatives in Pakistan and live in constant fear of being investigated by the FBI. "A Shrinking World" is full of insights; Hill deserves credit for having the patience and skill to develop sources in a community that isn't used to inquiring reporters.
