Taste Test
Here's a story that really whetted my appetite. The Anchorage Daily News husband-and-wife team of reporter Stephanie Komarnitsky and photographer Stephen Nowers spent a week trying to eat only locally grown and raised food. They share their experiences this week in "Eating Local," which includes stories on the costs and benefits of eating local, a map that shows nearby farms where readers can buy food and some fun slideshows (my favorite is the one about the condo cow). In Thursday's final chapter, Nowers and Komarnitsky sit down for dinner with friends to decide whether they can really taste the difference between local fare and food shipped in from the outside.
