Illinois newspaper sues state Supreme Court

It's a strange twist in an interesting case. The Chicago Tribune reports the story. The lawyer on the case is none other than Bruce Sanford, SPJ's First Amendment lawyer.

Sanford and his client the Kane County Chronicle are appealing a $4 million libel judgment before the Illinois Supreme Court. The judge who won the libel case is on the Supreme Court and the other justices were wintesses. Sanford and his client believe they can't get a fair hearing.
