The Shield: LDF blog debuts

As the Legal Defense Fund blog debuts, it's unfortunately a busy time for journalists and court rooms.

Josh Wolf is still in prison and the two San Francisco Chronicle reporters who wrote about Barry Bonds might be headed there.

The Legal Defense Fund Committee will use this blog to update journalists on the committee's actions - who receives grants, which efforts get amicus support and what cases on going on nationally that affect journalists and how they gather news.

This blog will feature posts from Dave Aeikens, acting LDF chairman and SPJ secretary/treasurer; Neil Ralston, campus adviser at large; Rebecca Neal of the Indianapolis Star and Mike Knaak, a former Minnesota Pro chapter president and an editor with the St. Cloud Times in Minnesota.

Readers of this blog should feel free to post information about legal issues invovling journalists from their region in the country.
