Clearing the record

There was a brief I wrote about a theft case. It was simple, it was just a brief, and it was not a complicated case. Unfortunately I got the suspect's sex and age wrong, as well as the time and place of the incident. Needless to say it was the worst correction I've ever had to run with.

I later determined that I had been on autopilot when writing it up. It taught me an important lesson that even though it's just a brief that most people won't read, there will always be at least one person who will point out blatant mistakes in a news item. Turns out the wrong place I had named in the brief READ it, and called in to say that no such incident took place at their establishment.

I don't usually make those mistakes, but I definitely felt stupid afterward. What are your worst correction experiencs? You know you got one.
