Let's meet up in D.C.
So, if you read this blog regularly you
already know that this week I'm heading out to SPJ's Washington, D.C., national conference.
A few people asked what gen j and I are up to at the convention, so I thought I'd pass some thoughts along in hopes that I can meet up and hang out with other genjers!
My not-so-secret-agenda:My flight leaves Long Beach Wednesday night, so I get to D.C. at 5 a.m. or some crazy hour on Thursday. My first step will be to have breakfast register for the conference because not until now have I had the money with which to register.
All day Thursday I'll be hitting up the town, well any time before the pro sessions start at 1 p.m. I'd love to meet up with anyone that day - so
let me know!
Don't forget everyone that the generation j committee has a meeting at 2:45 p.m. Thursday in the Grand Canyon room. If you're on the committee, be sure to be there. If you're not on the committee - you're welcome, too. Who knows, you could join the committee also - like my buddy, Jaclyn, I met at last year's conference who joined gen j at the convention.
Others have asked when all of us genjers could hang out. A regular reader suggested Friday night (Thursday night is opening reception and Saturday night is the president's banquet). That same smart reader suggested we meet in the lobby and then head out together - rather than all try to find the same place.
On Friday, the regional meetings are the end of the day from 4:30 to 5:30. I'm running for region 11 director, so I'll need a little bit after that meeting, too.
So......how 'bout we all meet at 7 p.m. in the lobby on Friday? Please
share your thoughts in comments - and if a different time would be better, please say so. Then, I'll respond and we'll change it.
Please
e-mail me if you'd like to hang out on Thursday or any other time so that I can send you my cell phone number. (I'd rather not post that on the blog.)
Have a great week and I look forward to seeing some of you in D.C.!
